A quick check on the main SonyEricsson Malaysia main webpage reveals that they have updated it with some of the new models. In a nutshell, we should see the SonyEricsson Xperia X10 Android smartphone first, followed by the Vivaz, the Symbian smartphone. Next to make an appearance is the Xperia X10 Mini, and then the Vivaz Pro, Xperia X10 Mini Pro and Aspen (environmentally friendly phone) will make their appearances.
I take it “is coming soon” means in the next month or so. This is because the others are described as “coming in the next 3 months”, or “coming in the next 6 months”. Whether, and if, they will be successful depends on the pricing – based on rumours, the X10 will retail for RM 2,799, which to me personally, is a suicidal price. Unless SonyEricsson’s strategy is to only sell it to its ever smaller legion of fanboys and those rich and stupid enough to want one. And some people still wonder why SonyEricsson continues to find itself in trouble with no light at the end of the tunnel!

DiGi has put up a page where one can pre-order the iPhone 3GS. Pre-orderers will be given priority over others when the time comes to collect the iPhone. Click here to register your interest – there is no obligation to buy the phone if you pre-order; simply don’t turn up or do anything if you don’t want to!
And ah, please read point 9 of the FAQ around 50 times so that you understand what it means:
9. Do I have to signup for a DiGi mobile service plan in order to buy an iPhone?
Yes. You will have to signup for the selected DiGi mobile service plan in order to buy an iPhone.
I have deliberately increased the font size so that you can read it better. Have you read it at least 50 times yet? No? Go read it again!
Pre-orders are accepted until 18th of March, so better make up your mind quickly!

Thanks also to JC for sharing this with us in the shoutbox! So, does this hint at cheaper prices of HTC phones to come? You tell me – my lips are sealed for the moment, and will be unsealed soon enough. At these prices, you don’t even have to consider the competition – it would be almost silly not to buy an HTC phone! Can we dream of the HTC Legend below RM 2,000? The HTC Smart below RM 1,000? The HTC HD Mini at around RM 1,800? My lips are sealed – waterboard me all you want, I’m not saying anything! What about the HTC Desire? Cheaper than the Google Nexus One in Singapore after conversion into RM? Torture me, torture me!

…and 5 things to dislike. This is the title of an article from the geardiary website, who had three persons review the new-ish Google Nexus One. All of them used it for at least a month, and then came together to try to agree on the 10 things they liked about the phone, and 5 things not to like. It’s not a technical read at all; more of an end-user perspective. Some of the things they liked are not really applicable to Malaysia, such as Google’s Voice service, since we don’t get to enjoy it here, so it may subtract somewhat from the number of positive items.
Click here to have a read. And I like the conclusions section where each of the three reviewers had their final say about the product. As I read through the article, I was just waiting for the other shoe to drop, and drop it did in the conclusions section!

Following on from their unboxing video, slashgear has now published their full review of the new HTC Legend. In short, they liked it. The Friendstream feature, a part of the upgraded HTC Sense user interface, comes in for special mention. So does its build quality and form factor. It is said to be a worthy successor to the HTC Hero. Slashgear has this to say as part of the conclusion:
Nonetheless, even if it remained as it is today, the HTC Legend is an impressive device. It no longer occupies the top-spot in HTC’s Android range – the imminent Desire will take that position – but it’s arguably more attractive and pocket-friendly than its sibling.
I think this is going to be a good device for someone just getting started in the Android world. For those who are upgrading from the Hero, this seems to be a good choice as well. Many are waiting for the Desire, but I think the Desire will be the high end smartphone and command a price premium to justify this. Whether this premium is justified or not depends on the user’s usage scenario – if you don’t need the bells and whistles of the Desire, the Legend will do just as fine. And I think HTC must do a good job of differentiating the two handsets so that there is no unnecessary confusion in the market.
