TUNE TALK PHONE TO BOOST SUBSCRIBER BASE
Simple yet attractive phone for convenience, value for money
KUALA LUMPUR, 11 December 2009 – In its effort to provide greater convenience and affordability to subscribers, Tune Talk has come up with a value-for-money mobile phone called the ‘Tune Talk Phone’ that retails at RM109.
Every purchase is bundled with 100 minutes of free Tune Talk talktime credit and comes with a one-year warranty for the transceiver. This promotion applies to new and existing Tune Talk subscribers.
Produced under strict quality control and assurance by Tune Talk, the phone measures 103mm x 44mm x 14.2mm and weighs only 50 grammes. It is equipped with an LCD colour screen, FM radio, calendar, memo, alarm and games features. The Tune Talk Phone has a standby time of up to 100 hours and talking time of up to 180 minutes.
“The Tune Talk Phone is targeted at those aged 12-30 years comprising tourists, workers and students from low to middle income group. Due to its simplicity and user-friendliness, it is also suitable for use by senior citizens. There is no contract imposed, neither there is a limit on number of units purchased,” said Jason Lo, CEO of Tune Talk.
The Tune Talk Phone is currently available from Tune Talk’s appointed dealers in the Klang Valley. It will be rolled out to other regions nationwide in the next couple of weeks.
“The Tune Talk Phone adds value and convenience to subscribers as they enjoy a 100 minutes free Tune Talk talktime and can use their Tune Talk service right away. Subscribers enjoy affordability, widest and best network coverage with Tune Talk along with the lowest call rates and free personal accident insurance coverage of RM100,000. They can also win one of the 10 AirAsia E-Gift Vouchers worth RM200 each given to lucky subscribers everyday,” added Lo.
Since announcing its 200,000th subscriber 2 weeks ago, Tune Talk has by this week added another 100,000 subscribers, averaging over 5,000 new subscriptions daily. Tune Talk’s 300,000th subscriber will be announced soon.
Tune Talk targets 1 million subscribers in first year of operation.
The country’s newest mobile service operator was launched on 19 August 2009, offering the lowest flat rate of 22 sen per minute for voice calls and 5 sen per SMS. Its IDD rates are around 10%-30% cheaper than other operators. To reward its subscribers, Tune Talk gives away 10 AirAsia E-Gift Vouchers worth RM200 daily. Tune Talk subscribers also enjoy a RM100,000 personal accident coverage.
Tune Talk has been steadily capturing the youth market segment especially the internet-savvy youngsters thanks to its innovative online portal strategy. Subscribers find Tune Talk’s online registration, account management and customer care features particularly very useful and practical.
Operating as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) on Celcom (Malaysia) Berhad’s 2.5G network, Tune Talk offers a no-frills voice and short messaging service (SMS) package that meets the consumers’ demand for a simple, value-for-money product with easy accessibility and widest distribution reach.
“Running on Celcom’s network means Tune Talk gives its subscribers maximum coverage nationwide and soon full roaming on the back of Celcom’s current roaming arrangements overseas. In future Tune Talk subscribers could look at enjoying a better roaming proposition as well as local call rates when traveling within Asean countries when we have MVNO arrangements in Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand among others,” said Lo.
Tune Talk starter SIM pack retails at RM5 and comes preloaded with RM5 worth of talk time. It is now also available on selected Kuala Lumpur-bound international AirAsia flights at RM9 each and preloaded with RM5 talk time. Subscribers can reload via e-Pay, reload vouchers at over 10,000 dealers nationwide and the Tune Talk website www.tunetalk.com.
