CSL who, I hear you ask? CSL as in (probably) Malaysia’s largest “approved permit” (“AP”) mobile phone importer. Apart from importing loads of major brand names such as Nokia and selling them cheaper than “official” sets, CSL has also branched out into manufacturing their own phones, under their own label, CSL. One of these phones is an Android phone, shockingly. And it’s priced at RM 499. Yes, RM 499. I didn’t miss out on an additional “1″ in front of the 499. It’s really one ringgit less than RM 500! Check out the tiny screen capture below, which is a scan from a newspaper or magazine coverage of the phone.
It’s called the “CSL G2″, how innovative. How creative. Some features:
- 3 inch screen, 240 x 400 pixel resolution.
- GSM/EDGE support only, no 3G.
- weight: 120gm (not light!).
- talktime: 2.5 hours, standby: 120 hours.
- microSD slot.
- camera, FM radio, Java support.
I’m not sure what version of Android comes pre-installed, nor whether we get all the Google applications pre-installed on the device such as GMail, Google Maps and Android Market. If you’re interested, call CSL to find out.

Remember, there are poor people who cant afford even RM1k phone, Rm500 below for Android is reasonable with those spec

Wah, after seeing this bit of news, i decided to Google about this phone. I was thinking to myself, Wah, shit, a cheap android phone to test and play around with! However, apparently its not really android, but an android looking clone UI! What will people decide to counterfeit next?! Incredible!
