Sony VAIO W Grows Unsightly Tumour

sony-logoHere’s proof that you can’t have your cake and eat it too.  The Sony VAIO W, Sony’s first netbook, which I covered here, ships with a 3 cell battery, with the extended battery being optional.  And no wonder – check out the hideous extended battery below, which extends operating time to around 5 hours from the standard 3 hours or less.  With an extended battery looking like this, it’s no wonder that they chose not to include it in the standard configuration – it will simply scare potential buyers off!  While it raises the device to a more comfortable typing angle, the protrusion is simply too horrific for me to look at.  Why Sony can’t design the battery to look more like the one on my Acer Aspire One D150, which looks acceptable, I don’t know.

wow, ‘ergonomic’ design is taken into consideration.
I personally think it is good for air ventilation and bad for viewing.
hopefully, the new Hybrid Battery will improve both the quality and size.

hopefully it will be implement on mobile tech soon.
So we will have Hybrid Laptop with OLED screen which is ultra thin and long lasting power. ;-)

Nuclear powered battery? expose yourselves to nuclear while you are using the laptop?

@toonchien, yeah, as long as they make it safe enough, so that even if it blows up, it will only cause a tiny little hole in your laptop bag, hahahaha…
