iPhone3GS Tops In Consumer Reports Report

apple_logoThe recently released iPhone3GS tops the Consumer Reports website’s smartphone ratings report in virtually every area apart from voice quality – but wait, before the sceptics start to snigger, Consumer Reports also mentions that very few of the smartphones tested did well.  But the phone is not a “runaway winner”, as the website calls it.  The Palm Pre in particular scored rather closely to the iPhone3GS.  The 3GS edged out its other high scoring competitors with its “superior display, reinforced by top-notch multimedia, navigation, Web browsing, and battery life“.  Battery life?  Really?  Obviously Apple has made some significant improvements to the 3GS’ battery life compared to the 3G.  Or maybe all smartphones are plagued by the short battery running life disease.  The one thing the Pre beat out the iPhone3GS was in multitasking ability, which is not surprising at all considering the 3GS doesn’t do it!

Unfortunately the detailed table where they presented the test results is only available to subscribers, which means that you need to pay to view it.  And since I’m not a rich man, I opted out.  Even if I did pay, there are copyright issues which prevents me from reproducing the table here anyway, so there you go.  But feel free to sign up if you’ve got some spare cash sloshing around.
