Forced by the release of the purplera1n jailbreaking software for the new iPhone3GS, the Dev-Team, responsible for bringing us so many of the software tools to jailbreak and carrier unlock, aka SIM unlock, our beloved iPhones, has released updated versions of their redsn0w and ultrasn0w tools. In a nutshell redsn0w = jailbreak, ultrasn0w = carrier unlocking; both tools now support the new iPhone3GS, in time for the availability of the phone in Malaysia later this month (although if one bought the Maxis sets, one would only need redsn0w)! redsn0w supports Windows, MacOS and Linux; while you run ultrasn0w on your iPhone.
