One of the largest online retailers in the UK, play.com, has started selling the “unbranded” or “SIM Free” or what is otherwise known as “unlocked” version of the new Samsung i8910 HD smartphone.  Unfortunately, those looking for one of these un-crippled phones will be in for a rather large shock when they discover the price – £529.99 – approximately RM 3,088.  Well, at least delivery is free.  This could be one of the reasons why Samsung Malaysia is delaying the release of this phone (among other reason which I will write about later) – after all, if it’s going to sell above the RM 3,000 mark, I don’t think anyone in their right minds would want to buy one, considering that the other competing smartphone in this category is the Nokia N97 which has a retail price of only RM 2,480.
