In what I find to be rather surprising, considering the high software piracy rate in Malaysia, is that the pre-order for Microsoft’s latest operating system, Windows 7, due to be released on 22nd October of this year, is still not available for pre-ordering at the Microsoft Malaysia website. To be fair to Microsoft though, only four countries are currently enjoying this pre-offer – the US, UK, Canada and Japan (where it has already sold out – only 30,000 copies were available for pre-ordering, which to me, is a very miserly number for such a large population!).
I’m surprised because I would have thought that Microsoft would want to make some copies of Windows 7 available at really attractive prices to boost the percentage of legal software in use in Malaysia. Or perhaps most computers sold in Malaysia come packaged with Windows anyway which have their own Windows 7 upgrade schemes as I wrote about here, making standalone Windows 7 upgrade offers unnecessary? Or am I simply writing this post too early, and that Microsoft Malaysia will announce Windows 7 offers at a later date?
Also, Microsoft has put up a microsite here for people to familiarise themselves with Windows 7 before its commercial availability. So far, the tours cover fairly rudimentary stuff, but check back often – they may have some gems to share in the future!

u point out the right point , if the window 7 offering in malaysia with a pricing which majority can afford,i will buy it, since window 7 , i may use it at least 5 years and above…
if got any go update,please let us know.
or i may buy from oversea,dad , do you know which country win os selling is more cheaper. USA or HK or other.
