Packard Bell, which is owned by Acer and is primarily marketed in Europe, is reported to be selling the “Dot M” and “Dot S” netbook models (based on the Acer Aspire One 11.6″ and Aspire One D250 models) effective the end of April and immediately, respectively. Or so says the netbookitalia.com, an Italian website. Pricing for the Dot S is reported to be €299 (approximately RM 1,418), while the Dot M will cost €399, approximately RM 1,892. I am uncertain if Packard Bell still sells in Malaysia, but this news is interesting because it may also mean that the Acer Aspire One 11.6″ model will be making an appearance soon!
Looking at the pricing, it appears to be in line with what we’re paying here in Malaysia, at least for the D250. So, I’m speculating that the 11.6″ model will be selling for RM 1,899 or RM 1,999 based on the converted pricing from Euro above. If that’s the case, while it’s not expensive, it’s still not cheap either – you’re effectively paying a premium of RM 400 for an additional 1.4″ of screen real estate, with much of the other specifications being almost identical, apart from the processor upgrade to the Atom Z series, the Z530 processor running at 1.6Ghz, to be exact.
So, are we going to see the Aspire One 11.6″ make a quiet entrance, sneaking onto store shelves, this coming end of the month, or early next month? Stay tuned!
