The GiiNii Movit Android Tablet In Action

giinii-logoIf you read my post here about a new device which touts itself as a mobile social networking device (MSND), then this follow up may be of interest to you.  The device, as you know, is called the Movit, from a company called GiiNii, a US outfit which has a legacy producing digital cameras and digital picture frames.  Gottabemobile tracked down the Movit and managed to do a video of it in action (though a bit blurry and shaky due to the crowds at the CES!) – click this link to see the video.

Here are some specifications of the device according to GiiNii’s product pages:

  • WiFi for hotspot use anywhere
  • Skype-enabled
  • Built-in microphone/speaker to make Skype calls and more
  • Bluetooth 2.0 if you want to use a headset or pair with other Bluetooth device
  • Video & still camera can be used as webcam
  • Address book gives you easy access to desired phone numbers
  • 4.3” or 7” screen
  • Stream video and audio
  • Built-in lithium battery so you can take it anywhere
  • Easily connect to social networks like Facebook™, MySpace™, Twitter™, etc.

Sadly, the device is WiFi enabled only, there’s no cellular radio.  I think it’s targeted more at the younger crowd, one I define as being between 16 and 30 years of age.  With connectivity options to Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, and Skype, it’s little wonder that this called a MSND!  I think this device should sell quite well if marketed properly in Malaysia, knowing the popularity of social networking here!
