Yes, the email finally arrived for those who have pre-ordered the 5800 Xpressmusic as I posted here earlier. The funny thing is, most people who were interested and have pre-ordered have actually gone ahead and bought the phone (minus the free Nokia WH-600 wired headset of course!). These pre-pre-orderers bought it at a lower price compared to the recommended selling price of RM 1,499. I bought mine at RM 1,380, I know people who bought it at RM 1,300, the lowest so far for an official Nokia Malaysia set. So, you pays your money and eats your roti canai – pay RM 100+ extra to get a “free” wired Nokia stereo headset, or pay less and have the freedom to get your own headset.
Here’s the image I received, which Nokia Malaysia insists to be printed out and shown to one of the two Nokia Concept Stores where pre-orderers must go to “redeem” the “free” headset. The other part that cheeses me off is that they’re forcing you to go at a certain time to one of the stores mentioned, otherwise, nada, no freebie. That just sucks. The customer should at least be given some flexibility on when to purchase, within a reasonable time period, and not “ordered” to. Malaysian companies have a really loooooooong way to go when it comes to customer satisfaction.
Looks like I won’t be using this “redemption” voucher after all
