Not many blogs reported on this device from Compulab, codenamed the exeda, which claims to be able to run either Windows Mobile, Android or Angstrom Linux (whatever that is!). Their hardware specifications apparently supports these three operating systems without the need to customise anything, which is interesting, and similar to the Chinese Android handset reported here.
The exeda is targeted at the enterprise market (Compulab calls it a “enterprise digital assistant“), with a 3.5″ screen readable under sunlight (which is vastly different from many phones in the market today where the screen is absolutely useless under sunlight!). Other interesting and differentiating features include a wired LAN jack (yes, wired!) and a serial (ie. RS323) port! Why anyone in their right minds would want the latter two in a mobile device, I have no idea. It has a tiny QWERTY keyboard along with a capacitive touchpad which acts as the mouse (!).
Target availability for sales is March 2009. Other specifications:
- Marvell PXA270 520MB CPU
- 128MB RAM
- 2 banks of internal FLASH, 512MB each
- 2MP camera with flash
- GPS with built-in and external antennas
- MicroSD socket with SDHC support
- Built-in microphone and speaker + 3.5mm stereo jack
- High capacity 3000mAh battery
Check out that battery capacity! Ye Gad! That is one huge battery, probably sufficient to run for days on end on light usage (hopefully – I say this because my G1 handset consumes batteries like a Hummer devours gasoline!).
